Information Collection

Registration

A Web site user may optionally complete a registration form in order to fully interact on the website. During registration a user is required to give contact information (such as their name and email address). We use this information to provide custom features which the user has expressed interest (such as notifications of new messages or custom weekly updates). Registration also requires the user to give demographic information (such as date of birth, gender, ethnicity and location), and unique identifiers (such as, username and password). This information is used to provide a more personalized experience on our site and for search purposes connected with the functionality of the Website only. Unique identifiers (such as password) are collected from Web site visitors to verify the user's identity, and for use as account numbers in our record system.

Information Use

Cookies

A cookie is a piece of data stored on the user's computer tied to the information about the user. Usage of a cookie is in no way linked to any personally identifiable information while on our site. We use both session ID cookies and persistent cookies. For the session ID cookie, once users close the browser, the cookie simply terminates. A persistent cookie is a small text file stored on the user's hard drive for an extended period of time. Persistent cookies can be removed by following browser help file directions. Our site uses session ID cookies so that you do not have to enter your username and password on every web page in the member's only area. Cookies are widely used on most major Web sites.

Log Files

Like most standard Web site servers we use log files. This includes internet protocol (IP) addresses, browser type, internet service provider (ISP), referring/exit pages, platform type, date/time stamp, and number of clicks to analyze trends, administer the site, track user's movement in the aggregate, and gather broad demographic information for aggregate use.

Communications from the Site

First Time Registration

We send all new members a welcoming email to verify password and username.

Updates and Notifications

Our members may also choose to receive notifications to their email informing them of updates such as new messages or new friends. In addition members will receive a weekly update which is customized for them containing stats and updates. Out of respect for the privacy of our users we present the option to not receive these types of communications.

Service Announcements

On rare occasions it is necessary to send out a strictly service related announcement. For instance, if our service is temporarily suspended for maintenance we might send users an email. Generally, users may not opt-out of these communications. However, these communications are not promotional in nature.

Customer Service

We communicate with users on a regular basis to provide requested services and in regards to issues relating to their account usually via email.

Add/Invite Friends

Our users are encouraged to invite their friends to join our site. We ask them for the friend's email address. LifeHoo.com will automatically send the friend an email inviting them to visit the site. LifeHoo.com stores this information for the sole purpose of sending this email and tracking the status of their signup under the Pending Invitations page.

Public Profile

Please keep in mind that whenever you voluntarily disclose information online - in the case of our Web site, when completing your profile - that information can be collected and used by others. In short, we suggest that you do not post your contact information such as your email, phone number, and postal address or online handles from instant messaging services. This will ensure that you do not receive unsolicited messages from other parties. Correcting/Updating/Deleting/Deactivating Personal Information If a user's personal information changes (such as name, email, or location), or if a user no longer desires our service, we provide a way to correct, update or delete/deactivate user's membership account and information. This can usually be done at the My Account page.

Information Storage and Security

This Web site has security measures in place to protect the loss, misuse and alteration of the information under our control. Information collected is stored in a secured database on our web hosting server. Your information is kept our web hosting server as long as you are a member of our site.
